State Passing Ratios

We are often asked, “How many of our students have passed the California Real Estate Salesperson’s and/or Real Estate Broker’s Examinations?”  Another way to put it is, “what is your schools passing ratio?”

Many real estate schools will exaggerate their State Examination passing ratios just to get your business.   Beware of any real estate school that claims any type of passing ratio.  Let us explain.

You need to recognize the true facts about the passing ratios on the California Real Estate Examinations.

The only accurate statistics are compiled by the California Department of Real Estate.  Their statistics indicate that the passing ratios on the Salesperson’s and Broker’s Examinations consistently fall in a range of 45% to 53%.   The Salesperson’s passing ratio is usually a little higher than the Broker’s passing ratio.

We cannot give you an accurate passing ratio for our school because our business reply, postage paid surveys that were given to our past students, have always had negligible returns.  Less than 2% of our graduate students have responded to our surveys.  This lack of statistical date makes it virtually impossible to calculate any type of accurate passing ratio.

Other schools would have to be magicians with supernatural powers to collect proper data to establish an accurate passing ratio.  You need to protect yourself against any school that claims any type of passing ratio on the State Examination.  Some schools will represent a passing ratio as high as 98%.  Please compare that to the States’ statistics, and then find a school that is open and straight forward regarding passing ratios.
